DT4810 — Incremental Upgrade
The DT4810 is a compact digital instrument developed by Nuclear Instruments, designed to emulate radiation detection systems in real time. It generates a continuous, statistically consistent stream of analog pulses based on user-defined parameters — including pulse shape (exponential or rectangular), energy distribution (fixed amplitude or arbitrary spectrum), time distribution (constant or Poissonian), and noise and baseline conditions.
Unlike traditional arbitrary waveform generators, the DT4810 operates in real time without relying on preloaded waveform sequences, allowing virtually unlimited acquisition duration while preserving the statistical properties of the generated signals. The device is fully controlled through a Web Interface accessible via Ethernet or USB, and requires no software installation on the host machine.
What's in this package
An Incremental Upgrade is distributed as a file with the .DUP extension. It is an archive package containing updated firmware and software components for the DT4810 Digital Detector Emulator. It does not replace the Operating System.
An Incremental Upgrade updates the Minor Version of the device only, leaving the Major Version unchanged. For example, if the current device version is 1.4, a valid Incremental Upgrade must have Major Version 1 and Minor Version greater than 4 (e.g. 1.5). If the target version has a different Major Version (e.g. 2.x), a Full Install Upgrade must be performed first.
Incremental Upgrades do not support downgrades. Installing a version with a lower Minor Version than the one currently on the device is not permitted.
Installation
Prerequisites
- The DT4810 must be powered on and accessible via its Web Interface (Ethernet or USB).
- The device version can be checked from the Web Interface: Home Page → System → Version Info.
Method 1 — Online Update (recommended)
- Open the DT4810 Web Interface in a browser and log in.
- Navigate to Settings → Device Upgrade → Online Update.
- If a new Incremental Upgrade is available, the version details are displayed. Click the Info button for the full changelog.
- Click Download and Install, then confirm in the dialog that appears.
- The device will automatically download, verify, and upload the upgrade file, then reboot.
- After reboot, the installation completes automatically during boot. Reconnect to the Web Interface and verify the new version under Home Page → System → Version Info.
Method 2 — Manual Upload
- Download the
.DUPfile from this page. - Open the DT4810 Web Interface in a browser and log in.
- Navigate to Settings → Device Upgrade → Manual Upload.
- Click Choose a file and select the downloaded
.DUPfile. - The system performs a compatibility check automatically. If the file is incompatible, an error is shown and the upload is blocked.
- If the file is valid, click Upload, then confirm in the dialog.
- The device uploads the file and reboots automatically.
- After reboot, the installation completes during boot. Reconnect to the Web Interface and verify the updated version.
Do not power off the device or close the browser during the upgrade process, as this may cause upgrade errors.
